My phone service is curtailed due to not paying the bill yet, so posts may be a bit harder to upload photos. Other than that, weather is good, wind has come up right now so I suspect we may be getting cloudy weather in about a week or so. Right now it's only in the 70's which is perfect if you're in the sun. Shade is rather chilly. Typical fall weather thankfully.
Even as I was walking Rocky I kind of stopped and marveled at how the leaves raced with the wind pushing them. I never have had a chance to truly enjoy the details of the seasons. I've been driving, or doing something else and for some reason it caught my attention. The leaves are now in drifts and scattered across the grass making it difficult for Rocky to thread his way through looking for grass to nibble. They are also piled up around the trees he usually scratches on so I think it's compounding his frustration being outside.
I had to seriously adjust the color balance in these two photos. The one on the left was a lot more yellow (still is a bit too much) and the one on the right was a lot more red. Difference of the lighting and what it's bouncing off for the camera.
I decided to try and transplant some of the cilantro from the shade corner. The soil was rock hard as well and was trying to use the ice scoop because it had a sharper edge to it. Got a few to transplant in the raised bed and the west bed. Much too warm in the sun and they had very little roots to keep them going. Only an hour or two and they were all wilted. Oh well. Plenty more where they came from. Trying to keep the containers away from the front edge so as not to impact the carrot seeds there. My stress levels and impatience are not happy with the garden not showing much progress.
Before and after planting. Completely fallen over wilting. Just too young to transplant and their tiny roots were not making much headway in the rock hard soil where they were.
The lemon bush is loaded with fruit yay! That means it's a Meyer lemon for sure since they fruit and ripen primarily between November and May. Some people get them to fruit all year round but this is just fine. Most of them have some green at the blossom end still but they're still useful. Not that I need a ton of lemon juice. Unless I decide to do something squirrelly like make a lemon tart. Ha!
So that's it for today, fall is falling and breeze is blowing. All the leaves tell me so.
