See what happens when I mention something and then the opposite happens? Yesterday it started to clear off in the late afternoon evening and today, hazy but clear skies.
The Jacaranda is positively buzzing with bees, spent flowers dripping off the bunches like occasoinal drops of water. The pavement below is littered with purple petals.I actually took the screen out of the window in order to get this shot. It is what I see from my desk chair if I lean forward. Can even smell them a bit when I walk under the tree but then that could be the Star Jasmine at the other end of the walkway.
After watching a video on potting up seeds (didn't need it just happened) it confirmed my mistake in the next round of tomatoes. I picked up the pot and saw the culprit of the tracks. Millipede just hanging out, which is perfectly fine and does no harm. I got some more compost (my own) and some from the raised bed to mix together for hopefully, a decent growing mix for the tomatoes. Much smaller pots and filled to the top. Three or four seeds in each pot and will see what comes up. I moved the tray with them in it out to the garden when I realized how sunny it was today. Oh yes and I decided to do that at dusk, so the porch light had already come on, hence the shadows.
Found two of the culprits of holes in the leaves. Copious amounts of chewing going on and am sure those weren't the only ones. I decided to trim up more of the leaves and a few branches and realized I need to move the crate and soil bags somewhere else.
Much thinned out but still lots of fruit, it was just so dense I decided not to chance disease and more pests. More than enough fruit on all three plants. I also discovered a split fruit, at first thought that was a larva inside but looking closely it's just immature seeds. Not sure if that split was caused by insect or just splitting. Almost looks like it was chewed but it's in the compost bucket now, same with all the trimmed branches.
Knee level view of oregano and tomatillo. The oregano is days from blooming, the tallest stems are showing buds for sure. I looked back at when I got the oregano, there were actually two oregano and I now remember that one of them turned black and failed but this one has made up the difference. Poor rose and orchid didn't survive but it's all good. The tomatillo has flowers but am not expecting any fruit, I actually pulled the cilantro bunch that was behind it and one other one that started bolting to take upstairs. Need to make a new batch of salsa even though I still have some, it's over a week old...not as tasty.
Will hope for new tomato sprouts in another week or two.
