Rain! We got some rain!

So yeah, had a tropical storm come through our area and dropped a good amount of water. Some people got a lot, some flooding in a few areas but for me.. meh.

The in ground beds were absolutely soaked but due to the nature of the raised bed soil and how dry it was, only got about 1/2 inch down. I suspect I need to add some top soil or worm castings or something a bit heavier to bolster the soil a bit. The oregano is toast but not a big deal really, was going to dig that out anyway.

Digging through the raised bed and seeing just how dry it all was then discovered a grub. Haven't seen any of those in a while for sure picked it up and tossed it over the wall.. I was still not up to snuff for doing heavy digging so just used the scoop and the trowel to move some dirt around. Then I noticed the jade bush.

It looks a lot worse in person. Most of the leaves are burned and shriveled, not enough water got down to the roots to really help it out so it's going to look ragged for a while.

Day after the first wave of rain with typical clouds and that wonderful after storm smell. We got another overnight sprinkle so total rain was enough to wash my car off thankfully.

And this was yesterday (again the colors are much brighter and vivid than they are in person). Clouds all gone today but still a very pleasant temperature, no higher than mid 70's. Sweatpants and heavy shirt all day.

I actually brought down the pack of cilantro seeds in the hope there was enough moisture in the bed to throw them in. Going to have to get out there before the weekend and dig through a bit of the south bed since that one has the most mud. According to the weather app, it's going to jump back up to 90 on the weekend. Bleh. Which is why I wanted to get out there and get something in the ground now. Will see what happens. I still can't get out there and water, someone shifted the sliding door on the electrical closet but didn't get it back on the track. Moving it is a bear so might have to remember next time I see or hear the maintenance guy to show him what happened and get it fixed.

So that's all that's happening in the garden. Dolores has most of her plants across from her apartment moved, still has a lot of stuff by the garden. That's all her though, if she leaves anything behind, it's fair game. Except for the compost she makes.
