Due to the weather being so heinous all the way until after dark I haven't gotten out to water in four days. Four days of 99-107 and no water for the poor tomato plant. Just not a good idea at least in my garden, to plant anything this time of year.
Yes, it was 90 at 8 pm. Oh and it didn't rain, it got muggy and yucky tropical weather. A hurricane sideswiped the coast, not even close enough for rain but caused a lot of high tide further north. So needless to say, I had to give up on the tomato and will be digging up the oregano as well. With the way the weather has been changing, prime growing season is now relegated from November to May, maybe to June.
I pulled the onions, such as they were, a few days ago to try and use but they were not enough. I was going to buy some at the store but they might as well have been sticks. No bigger around than a pencil if that. I would have chopped up the greens then put the bottoms in water to grow out a bit more but it's too dang hot to plant them out. Not to mention having to haul the hose out to water the bed completely and use up gallons of water. So all the beds are going fallow this year.
I took the shovel to the soil and dug it around a bit, barely any moisture even deeper. I'm not sure whether I want to try and dig out some of the logs or not but that will have to wait until spring. I may well plant sweet peas again when it cools down. See when the first rains happen and make a decision then because of all the things going on with me personally.
That's all the garden news for a while, probably not anything until after October for sure. Will check back in beginning of November.
