Fabulous Easter Sunday

Warm weather...seriously. T-shirt and pants is all I need today and as per 'tradition' I went for a nature walk. Not much to see due to not having prime hiking trails that aren't in full blazing sun. It was still nice day for a walk. I did get out yesterday evening to water and fertilize the beds.

I think that's a fresh gopher hole but not sure, could be from where I tossed the hose the previous day. But I thoroughly fertilized the bed. Moved the cilantro around to get closer to the base of them, made sure the onions and lettuce starts got a good dose and fertilized the lettuce. All watered in well afterward and that was it. Not much else to do really.

Not much luck finding free things online. Dirt mostly fill or top soil, not what I need. I need that poultry wire or mesh. Will have to wait another week and get a roll of it when we get more money in. I did see (rather late now) that Lowe's has the small bags of MG potting soil Buy 3 get 3 free at $3 a bag that's a great deal but the sale ends on Tuesday. I would get six bags just to add to the north bed when I get the mesh/netting in place. As much as I don't like using their soil, gotta get what's available and in budget.

Only thing of note on my nature walk was a rather large lizard perched on top of a rock. Full grown lizard that had to be at least eight inches or more long. That's a zoomed in photo because we were about twenty feet away and if I moved closer it likely would have scurried away.

The flowers behind it Wild Radish. It was all up and down the trail near the stream on the other side of those trees. I grew up with that and wild mustard and distinctly remember pulling one of the plants and seeing it was a long white root I smelled it and thought, 'wow smells like radish'. I told my mom it was a radish, she didn't believe me and said not to eat it. The pods and root are edible actually and of course we know about mustard seed. The decades before the internet and only having the Sunset Western Garden book to rely on for plant identification.

I didn't know I was right until I was older and wanting to go live in the mountains and live off the land.

Might go out and water a little more this evening, the breeze has kicked up but skies are just wide open and clear. Might rain around mid week and be partly cloudy after that but still in the 70's. Perfect spring weather once again. Love it!

Well, calamity struck.

I never got out to the garden yesterday because I figured it wasn't worth it. I should have watered because it's been dry of course...
