Seems the clouds are burning off/retreating sooner lately which means more warm weather and breeze sooner in the day. Temps are still very manageable though some fan ventilation is needed to move air when the front door is closed.
Someone clipped at least two of the rose buds from the bush, honestly as fragrant as this flower is you only need one. Greedy people.
Whoever it was took not two but three of the roses off the bush. Picture on the right is from yesterday morning.
Speaking of fragrant flowers, star jasmine is starting to bloom all over the place. That bush is at the bottom of our stairs, there's more somewhere else and then there's the entire fence hedge full of it on my walk. One of my all time favorite flowers for the smell of summer and a good all around tough bush to grow almost anywhere.
Just a before and after shot of the north bed. I chewed up the dirt because the potting soil has a tendency to cake on the surface. It was barely moist about an inch or so down so got everything thoroughly wet. The coloring on the tomatoes is better, not as much purple and the green is getting deeper. Still concerned about the lower leaves but overall they are settling in just fine.
Speaking of settling in, that tomato is now approaching the third rung of the trellis. It's getting huge! I am guiding it in and out of each rung as it gets there but that third one has a diagonal wire so will have to bypass that one but it will be okay. Peas are fattening up now so as soon as those are all picked they'll be cut down and sent to the compost bucket. So I watered longer so everything got soaked but didn't water the peppers because apparently they've been in the shade all this time so I decided to give them some sun. Hope they don't wilt on me.
That pepper seems to have more damage, wondering if there's something in the soil that's chewing it because none of the others seem to have any damage. If it gets too much more it's going to affect the new growth and stunt them.
Sprayed some water on Layla's plants and noticed her one fenugreek plant in the ground had two seed pods. Well it's surviving at least, along with the onions. I had to stomp down on the gopher hole in the corner because it looked new.
Two edged sword, they prefer planted areas that don't get a lot of action but on the other hand, digging from above makes the soil easier to dig for them. So give them warning signs of predators being in the area.
Forgot to bring the scraps down with me this morning so have to do that this evening. Lots of coffee, tomato, broccoli stems I thawed, pea shells... egg shells. All the good stuff. Will have to dump it out and put the scraps on the bottom, squirted some water on that as well since it's now drying out a bit faster.
That's about it for today. No gardening wisdom, brain is on another channel today so will see about tomorrow.
