Weather is of no mention really and the garden is the same. Of course that is for Wednesday. I forgot I was writing this and only this morning did I open the browser and realize I had never posted. So the following is for Wednesday:
I did get out in the evening (Tuesday) to get the peppers potted which was uneventful. Other than almost forgetting the fertilizer again but remembered in time.
Keeping with my flower pictures first, the cilantro. The flowers are kind of interesting when seen close up. Almost like a hydrangea or poinsettia with petals around the outside of the actual flower parts in the middle. Will try and use my magnifier next time to get a better image.
I used the shovel to put some soil in the trash bag I use for the compost dumping and had planted one up already when I remembered the fertilizer. Went and grabbed that and just did a generous handful in all the soil and mixed it up. Repotted the pepper and then continued with the rest. They all looked perky and healthy this morning along with the tomatoes.
Still have one more to plant but can't do that one until the cilantro or peas are out.
The tomato on the trellis is forming flower buds already! Geez louise it must have some great fertilizer there! Oh yeah, picked some peas as well.
Quite literally nipped that in the buds and it looks like the other one that's staked is forming flowers as well. These are supposed to get at least 4' tall and it's determinate so all the tomatoes all at once. Not a good idea to have them fruit or flower this young.
I decided in the evening that I should put cages and stakes on now. I used the two sturdiest and biggest ones in the north bed end tomatoes. They're 42" tall and heavier gauge wire than the others, could have used with a taller cage but here's hoping the plants don't outgrow them. I intend to run string or wire between the two cages to support the tomato in the middle. If I get another stake it would help immensely but this will do for now.
I've got the third stake on the tomato in the south bed and hope that it does okay there with only a few hours of sun. Two of the peppers will flank it as it's planted almost center both directions it was still in the sun when I put it there in late morning or noonish. In the summer it should get at least five hours of sun maybe more. This is another case of I should have gotten four instead of three stakes but noooo, only thought I needed three.
Going to cut off my post here and then do Thursday as a separate post because a lot more was done.
