Not much else to report other than another six tomatoes picked and left on the community table. Will be out and about today with my sweetie for his birthday.
Cucumbers are still flowering and I tickled them best I could to simulate being pollinated. Will see what happens. Didn't water as I was in a bit of a rush to get out of the sun.
Mid season slump? Things are looking rather dejected. Those tomatoes at the top of the plant haven't really changed much. At all. Those tomatoes have been disappointing to say the least. I would almost think they needed more water except for the blossom rot they get. Once everything is done in that bed I'll mix in the last of that bag of soil add in fertilizer and let it sit for a while before planting the winter things there. No money this month for soil or other things.
I saw Dolores last night when I checked on things and we got to talking about what she's growing. She has some 'volunteer' celery in one of her compost bins and her kale was being eaten up by caterpillars. I started inspecting the kale as I talked to her because it was rapidly turning into lace. I found a total of six of the little green worms on it. She was thankful for me to find them and said she would have to bring her glasses next time. She wondered about the white marks on the pumpkin vine leaves and I told her that was the normal coloring for them. Since the markings were all in the same places on the leaves it was kind of obvious to me. Her cherry tomatoes are still flowering but no fruit. Didn't think to ask her if she was giving them anything else for fertilizer and noticed that they may be in too much shade. I gave her the three tomatoes I picked as well and she said she had just bought tomatoes at the store but took them anyway.
So that's it for now. Running about today and closing up before we leave.
