Might not even crack 80 today the sky is partly cloudy, more sky than clouds out my window with a gusty breeze blowing. Perfect weather for being outside where a lot of people are enjoying the day off for Labor Day.
Not much in the way of attractive pictures today only flower blooming is the zinnia. The tomatoes and cucumbers are far from being ready so just visually checking things.
That's the last tomato in the south bed. Not sure if the others behind it will survive without BER so I'll be watching them and likely pick that tomato tonight. The zinnia looking good with more bud branches coming in behind, yay!
The decoy fruit for the pill bugs didn't work, they came for the cucumber they had already started on. They camped out under the piece of bark most likely and waited until the evening. That bed is getting a bit dry but I just am reluctant to use the hose anymore. It's such a disaster and I won't have money until Saturday.
I think one of the strawberries is putting out a new leaf! The picture on the left there's a tiny, miniscule green leaf coming out. The other one I think is surviving as well. If any of them survive I'll be happy. I bumped one of them checking and there wasn't a single root showing so.... will see.
That tomato is hanging in there. I snapped a picture just for reference later. Not all the river mud was mine today. Apparently Layla flooded out a gopher in one of the beds again. All she has growing there is purslane anyhow... her tomato and other things in her small pots are doing just fine.
The swallowtail was back. They've been swinging through the breezeway between the buildings due to a lantana being in bloom and then they make the rounds to the citrus tree. Despite her looking like she was laying eggs I didn't see her dip her tail to the leaf, just flapped her wings as if she was. I'll be checking it every chance I get anyway.
Speaking of the lemon, not sure who did this but they're using a log to prop up one of the branches with a lemon on it. That branch technically needs to be trimmed back as the entire bush is spreading wide instead of tall. It's getting close to impeding the entranceway. I might take my clippers to it ninja-like and do a small branch here or there once a week.
That's basically it for pictures. Not much else to report about things happening in the garden either. I brought the packet of cilantro leaves with me this morning but didn't toss any out on the ground. I just see so much that needs to be done first before I can plant besides wait for the weather to reliably cool down. Last night it was chilly enough with the fan on that we were both under covers but it was lovely temperatures anyway.
So money will be tight this month due to other bills but I will be getting that hose mending kit. That is a necessity.
