I'm just so tired of that hose right now don't even want to use it. The pepper needs some water but I just didn't bother. Will try and get to it in the afternoon. Wind came up this morning so if that's a harbinger then we will get a change in the weather. Which direction is yet to be seen.
Some of the cucumbers that were forming never opened the flowers. That's rather disconcerting and seeing as how I picked the two this morning, there are only three more growing at this point. I also decided last night that the other tomato had to go.
The roots on those were healthy at least. Little long ones and big thick ones. It makes me feel better that they had good soil and could thrive as long as they could.
Good healthy soil just not very deep. I got the cultivator in there and moved it around and within a minute of letting the soil sit, alllll the pill bugs started coming to the surface. I picked them out as I saw them and tossed them into the jade bush. There are hundreds more no doubt that I didn't get but it's all good.
I hope those taste good. They weren't growing much more so I figured I'd cut them now. I've never grown cucumbers successfully so this is a first for me.
As I said some of the flowers are not opening completely and as a result don't get pollinated so the flower just shrivels. I'm hoping that with cutting off those two that the plant will get the signal to produce more females.
The zinnia opened! It's purple! Not very big but it's a flower, I had to stand to the side due to the angle of the sun to get a good picture. Even as I was there taking a picture a mud wasp came and inspected the tomato plant. Very curious and odd. Maybe looking for water or insects to use for baby food.
And in other botanical news, it is Bougainvillea Looper season again.
They can do a lot of damage in a short time since they come out at dusk and feed at night. There are actually two on that picture.
About as hard to find as the other loopers on the tomato bushes. Not my plants, but if I were to do something I would suggest they spray with Spinosad in the evening. None of the gardeners are around in the evening so they'll likely just trim it all back instead.
I just went to the store and should have picked up a head of lettuce to go with my garden fresh tomatoes and cucumber. Darn it.
