Earworm for the day. According to the weather news on tv, 'it was a fast moving thunderstorm'. No kidding, really? Winds were fierce and it certainly moved fast over a period of several hours.
Beautiful skies, warm and only slightly breezy. Great day for walking and enjoying spring weather, not enough rain to really soak the garden but enough for the smaller plants like the lettuces.
They are rapidly growing now, which is good but am concerned at how close they are to those carrots. I'll be pulling those before the lettuce is big enough. Oh well, will see what happens when it happens.
Speaking of loving the weather, gorgeous carrot tops and the cauliflower just taking off. It has another two months if I'm lucky before it's ready to harvest. I keep wondering how the heck people got theirs to size this time of year when they planted essentially the same time I did.
The cilantro doesn't look like it was cut back at all a few days ago and the carrots once again, loving the weather and look at the height on those sweet peas!
Today and from March 5, two weeks ago and they gained at least a foot. So exciting and expect flowers probably after Easter but not by much. If they gain another foot in two weeks that will be close to flowering height.
That shade line is a bit shorter now and the soil did get a bit wet from the rain though some spots that were covered by leaves was still bone dry so watering may happen tomorrow.
Something that I just noticed that is no longer happening is the parrot migration twice a day. The sounds of spring are different now. Red Shouldered Hawks, Mourning Doves, House Finches, Bewick's Wren, and of course the ever present crows.
Change of the seasons by environment rather than by the calendar. Much more sensible in my mind.
