More good weather and carrot calculations

Weather is basically the same as it was yesterday but fewer clouds in the afternoon. Steady breeze to gusty wind, birds chirping, but no wind chimes so far. Wonderful spring weather overall and the plants are loving it.

Three different views of high hazy clouds with a few heavier little ones just floating along. Out my window right now it's a wonderful soft blue sky with a few white clouds drifting across. Much prettier and sunnier now.

Yes indeed the garden is loving this weather. South wall is still casting too much shade for planting there yet, probably another month and it'll have some sun on it.

Makes me happy to see the smaller lettuces finally taking off and those Romaine are ready. So what if they aren't the same shape as a store bought. More than enough leaves and tasty. Those carrots though, any day now along with the radishes.

I planted the carrots in December and here it is March....Chantenay's take anywhere from 60-75 days and they are at about 77 days. Supposed to see the carrot crown at the base of the leaves and the top is supposed to be about 3/4 inch across. I know if you leave them in the ground too long they get woody so some are ready before others at this point.

The radishes are definitely exposing shoulders in various stages, the leaves are still very healthy and (knock on wood) being left alone by pests. The green onions are doing good as well, some have thicker leaves than others and I have a few that are in water in the kitchen waiting to go out in the garden.

So over all everything is doing good but the peas I am still kind of concerned about the coloring but then remember that they've been growing and producing a lot. The flowers are not coming as fast, most definitely could use some fertilizer so will just have to make do and when it comes time just chop them down until the sweet peas are done then yank them all.

Looks like a pair of amaryllis coming up and I believe the leaf clumps are where the Belladonnas are. There's dandelions coming up in the grass areas, mostly gone to seed now but a few still blooming and the Raphiolepis are gearing up for the first burst of flowers for the spring. That's where the bees will be for sure.
Walking with Rocky I decided to peek at the Angel Face 'bush' rose and saw a cluster of  seed hips. Yes indeed I snapped off three of them and then saw the smaller pink rose had one as well and snagged that. Now I have to refresh my memory on how to grow roses from seed.

Yay! Here's hoping I can make it happen without having ideal conditions or supplies.
