It is about the same time of day as I posted yesterday and it is still cloudy and cold. Weather app said it would be sunny later today. It's noon people and doesn't look like it's going to be sunny any time soon. I watered anyway because it may be cloudy but no chance of rain.
It's brighter now than it was an hour ago so not so dark and foreboding. The hawks are calling to each other outside at their nest, one of them just flew off and I imagined it saying, 'I'll be home with dinner'. Yesterday I was sitting at my desk and saw one flying toward our building and realized it had a snake in its beak! It was flying away from the nest and, judging from the various bits of fur and feathers I've seen on the grass under the trees, I'm guessing that's where they go to tear apart their food. It was really cool though to see that and know that animals are taking care of themselves.
I went out to the garden, checked on things then went back up to grab a bag of some sort and my knife to harvest a few things. I didn't remember to take pictures until I brought everything back upstairs. So things that are missing: the other romaine, a lot of cilantro and two radishes. No pictures of the harvest I'm kind of discombobulated today.I also cut off three of the tallest sprigs of mint from Dolores' bush but have no idea what to do with it. I just like the smell and don't fix much middle eastern or Greek recipes to us it.
The lettuces have a lot more sun exposure now and the potato should as well. I uncovered one potato a little when I dug up the lettuce stump and contained myself to not pick it or pull the plant just yet.
The sun is finally breaking through the cloud cover now so I guess it's just morning marine layer hanging around a bit longer. Going to go look up recipes for cilantro lime rice and cilantro dressing that isn't too involved.
