The potatoes have broken the surface! We're having very warm weather right now so I hit them with water before I realized they were sprouting!
So at least there's that! Those are both the same one as the one on the right was thoroughly drowned. Also the radishes are 'crowning' as I think the correct term is.
Oddly it's one of the smaller ones but am not going to pull or dig around the larger ones. I do know that when the radish does this the top shoulders may well get damaged from exposure but that's okay.
I also threw some bell pepper seeds in both beds, helter skelter in the tomato bed and just shook all the ones for the 'colorful' blend in the south bed in a row just behind the carrots and radishes.
I had some green pepper seeds left from one I had used in the kitchen and threw those in and around the tomato and where I put the peas.
Watered just enough in the south bed to wet the seeds as it was still very damp. All the other areas I watered thoroughly being in the now hot sun. I also threw some eggshells around the radishes with the orange peels just because. It looks kind of trashy but it's my bed and when the radishes are pulled the shells will work into the soil for calcium.
And then one tomato is coloring but the issue is they are all very small, I need to really get in there and prune it out some.
They are about the same size as the late season ones from last year so need to cull and prune everything. There's also a branch that's going wonky out the backside that needs to either be trimmed or tucked up. Tucking it in is not a good idea since I need to thin it out.
Okay.. progress finally! There wasn't even a hint of those potatoes breaking through yesterday or the day before and then POP! There they are!
Done with the update for now, time for lunch and maybe not get some plants to put in now that I've put seeds in.
