It did rain after all and very windy

So far the only whether that isn't wonderful these days is blazing hot. Everything else is just fine by me. It's very very windy right now, I was up around 3 am and looked out the kitchen window because I saw water spatters and sure enough, rain. It's beautiful weather and the garden is happy for it.

Not my garden but downstairs across from the stairs. Don't know how I missed that blooming yesterday but it's gorgeous! The flowers are bigger than my hand. No color correction on that despite the greens being a bit too saturated.

Guess what? So was the Poinsettia right next to the epi.

Also the Dracaena down the way was also blooming. They bloom? Yes they do.

Meanwhile, in the garden....

Color of the soil speaks for itself, still wet enough don't have to water today. I did take a good look at the carrots and decided to cull a few more out. Good news is, they're forming good carrot roots.

So I also picked the largest tomato because the splitting was just getting to me and it felt soft enough.

All research points to rapid changes in weather and too much water.. I'm watering every day keeping it evenly moist, maybe too much so? I can't win with big tomatoes it seems because when I cut it open, less than spectacular for a large variety type.

I cut it open top to bottom which maybe I should cut it the other way as well to see the seed development together. I think I'm going to look for a patio type tomato next time because as much as I love cherry and pear tomatoes, those need a fence for support. An 8 foot tall fence. Seriously.

Will be cutting that bush down and digging it out at the end of the season for sure. That sunny bed is really good for squash but not enough room. As always, wait and see to figure out what to put in there next.

I realized a while ago that the potatoes were different in size and pointed it out. It only now dawned on my that it's because the farthest one was actually two stalks not one.

Can only hope that they are more successful than the tomatoes. The tomatoes aren't a failure or disaster but would like a little better result than what I've been getting. Should be another month or so before they're ready to pull. I could use the trowel and dig around but don't want to chance hitting a baby potato. The plants need to be a lot bigger before pulling for sure and still want to build up the soil around them just don't have the supplies or money to do so.

Some used five gallon nursery pots is all I really need but can I find anyone around here that has them? Noooo. Also realized that I can make my own netting if I had the right string. I have all these ideas that I know I can do and nothing to do them with.

Making do with what I've got and hoping for better days of course.
