After getting news that we needed to come up with rent for this month before July 1st I debated on even planting the seeds today. We have some help coming but nothing long term.
I decided to plant anyway. Even if we aren't going to be here next month, I will leave a note of what was planted and to have someone keep it watered.
Aside from that dire news, planting was done, wind was blowing and lizards were sighted.
Had to take them from a distance with zoom, lizard scooted around the corner on the wall then scurried down to the log pile. No telling which one it is of the three or four in the area.
From my walk with Rocky this morning. The peppers are doing great, the soil expectedly was still nice and moist. Remember what I said about cleaning up the beds? Then why leave a metal pole against the wall?
Used a stake to drop holes for the beans, nine instead of ten because...accuracy is not my strong suit. Already dropped two beans in each and some of the holes were a bit too deep. Covered those in a later picture and added one more bean, what comes up will come up.
Made a small hillish area for putting the cucumbers in the middle, never got the zinnias in, will do that tomorrow.
Threw in sunflowers around the cucumber hill, you can see the divots where the beans were planted. Yellow dots are approximate.
Added in most of the other bag of soil in the south bed and put in one planting of three cucumber seeds (I think it was three). Tried to note on the pictures as I went but between the blazing sun and being hot and sweaty it was fogging my brain.
A little soil in the corner, put a pair of beans there and then put cucumbers behind the peppers and marigolds. Did I mention not being able to follow my own plans?
This is why having someone along to note as I go is needed. Old age and fatigue does things to the brain. I didn't even water because the soil was okay, will get out there in the evening to do a light watering tonight given the sun and temperature it's going to be dry on the surface. Might put the zinnias in then as well.
I'm happy with the soil mix in the south bed. 2 bags for a bed that size and 3 for the fence bed is adequate. If we aren't here in the next two months, someone is going to have a good crop of veggies.
The soil mix was just about right for the south bed, it needed a lot of amendment and not enough room due to the marigolds. Hope the cukes do okay there. Made sure to try and level it out to there isn't that low spot.
On with other things....
