I am so beyond anything civil

Weather is the same, yada yada, on to important news.

The cucumber is gone. Almost didn't catch it because my first thing to do is look at the soil at a glance to see if it needs water. I noticed holes in the sunflower leaf and took a picture of that. Most of it didn't  but then when I took a picture of the fence bed then turned around and looked back... blank space and a small pile of dirt where it used to be. I tried taking a picture but it's all the same color no use in that.

I was so upset I grabbed the shovel to dig up the spot and find the tunnel. Didn't find it and didn't even take pictures of the rest of the beds. You can see though how well the soil retains moisture, bone dry on top and just fine below.
All the sunflowers are fine, why doesn't it eat those instead. If it has found the fence bed then I'm all done with going in the ground. Either I now excavate that bed and put in a gopher cage or forsake all the work I've done and get containers and the soil to put in them.

I at least watered and now am not counting on any of the seeds succeeding. The south bed seedling is likely a cucumber as well given the leaf shape. Will likely kiss that one goodbye in a week or so, unless the cage I put in does the job.

It's just exasperating and frustrating not only with the gopher but look at the soil, it doesn't show it being any different in the bed than the soil around it. A raised bed is supposed to be better than the dirt around it. I don't have the money to put in a perfect garden and may never have it.

I just may get those fabric containers I saw on amazon and dig out what I've got to put in there. I did some reading and turns out the main complaint was it not having rigid sides and it needed support stakes. Well that kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it? It doesn't make sense to put a lot of money into something that I won't take with me. So I may have to do just some large plastic pots like nursery containers.

So I am done, either I accept whats going on or work to do better. It comes down to what a coworker once asked a customer regarding invasive grasses, 'are you a lover or a fighter?'. If you're a lover, welcome to your new lawn, if you're a fighter, be prepared for a life long fight.

That's about where I'm at right now.

Well, calamity struck.

I never got out to the garden yesterday because I figured it wasn't worth it. I should have watered because it's been dry of course...
