Getting buckets just in time

Another marigold gone and will be putting peppers in the buckets tonight. Too hot right now to be out there digging and the transplanting will be easier on the plants in the evening.

Couldn't get the whole thing and just chomped on the stem to take most of the bush.

See the other hole on the left in the shade of the remaining bush? yeah, the little bastage. So going to use the rest of the in ground soil in the bag and mix that in with the soil I dig out with the peppers. May well have to get raised bed and potting mix to fill it out. Not good to put plain old dirt in a bucket or pot it defeats the purpose of having a container out of that soil.

He put about five or six 1 inch holes in the bottom of the three buckets. He was cringing inside about buckets having holes afterward. I was going to get the plain white ones with the logo but those were a dollar more and they only had one. See the yellow bucket with the litter scoop? Yeah, that was orange like the others two years ago. Sun does that to plastic so that's what to expect from the new planter buckets. I priced the difference between a #5 black nursery pot (which is closer to 4 gallons at 3.6) and these, double the price and smaller container. I would have to get a #7 to be closer to this size.

Now, this is not an ideal situation, I could theoretically abandon the in ground beds and bring the plants up to my patio but they wouldn't get as much sun but it would be enough. The issue with using buckets and plastic pots is the sun will heat up the soil a lot faster and in full on sun situations, it can actually cook the soil in the container. That's why I usually would tell people to get thicker walled plastic or ceramic/terra cotta. I don't have the money for that.

Not much going on in the other two beds so no need to post pictures. I even forgot to water those two beds so probably need to go back down and do that. I'll be picking up the bark pieces and putting them in the other beds with the hopefully growing seeds.

How can I fail at growing beans?!

Well, calamity struck.

I never got out to the garden yesterday because I figured it wasn't worth it. I should have watered because it's been dry of course...
