Another glorious day for the weather, another devastating day in the garden. I will be getting money this weekend and will be looking at making a growing trench or container. The person I messaged about the garden supplies has marked her listing as sold/pending but hasn't contacted me. She's marked my message as seen but hasn't messaged me back. At least say 'I've sold it to someone else'. Geez.
Tomato seedlings are starting to show roots which means it's time to get them into a bigger container really soon. Trying to keep them wet and somewhat crowded to keep them moist.
And another potato down. In a weird spot because the one on the far end is fine and solidly in the soil. this one was pulled halfway into the hole. I tugged on the one at the end and it was easily pulled out but no damage and one tiny spud. Will be digging around there and seeing what's under the surface.
(Phone is being stupid again and not uploading all my photos to google.
Another reason why it sometimes takes me 2 hours to do a 'quick post'.)
The cilantro is looking a bit yellow so time to fertilize and start trimming. One plant toward the back is taller than the rest, looking like it's going to start putting out a flower stalk due to the warm weather. Have to get out there with my scissors and a container to clip them.
The tallest pea is already putting a flower out and the one on the right side looks like a bud is forming also. So different from when I grew them in the shade on the other side where they grew 6 feet. As soon as they're done, the beans will go in there for sure. There's room for six beans at least and I only started four. Just went to the kitchen and planted 2 more, technically they need to be started in ground and thinned to 3" apart. No can do right now. That is a 4" grid so planting six out is perfect, and of course they're bush beans and may not need all that rigging to climb.
You can see the little pea on the end is struggling, so I just decided
to pull it out and tossed it in the compost bucket. The cilantro is
looking a bit weak on that end as well so I think this afternoon I'll
take my sprayer down and throw fertilizer and water in there. The onions
have yellow tips also so fertilizer indeed and need to turn the compost
bucket also.
That wire mesh is a 4" grid so planting six out is perfect, and of course they're
bush beans and may not need all that rigging to climb. Maybe cucumbers, which I looked at the package and they're a bush variety perfect for a 24" pot. Not in that bed. I need another bed that size or equivalent to plant more.
The onions are thickening up really well but those and the garlic won't be done for months. According to the Farmer's Almanac I should have planted them in January to harvest in the Fall. The onions I can see being finished by mid summer and the garlic, most definitely will not be ready until fall.
So, no potatoes this year except for those two I pulled, if others are discovered I'll keep them of course. Right now it's shuttle time and then when I return I'll fertilize and water.
