Absolutely perfect weather this week for getting out in the garden and working. Wish I had more to do. Breezy, clear blue skies wonderful sunshine everywhere. I love spring weather like this! Just wish I had more supplies, area and money to do what should be done.
Doesn't appear to be any new earth movement in the north bed. But that, as I have discovered, is deceiving. Probably tunnel under the surface and they're munching away on my potatoes. Only a matter of time before the next plants go under.
So having only now said that after I planted peppers and beans in pellets, the toothpicks are the beans. Those are notorious for sprouting quickly (hopefully should be) which is why I pre-soaked them for maybe fifteen minutes in wet paper towels (yeah I know needed to do it overnight). That is not how I left them by the way, I tucked them into the very wet peat moss and dumped out the extra water. Had to use tweezers for the pepper seeds. The other two I planted haven't come up at all so am going to toss those from the other container.
I am planting like I have another huge area to plant and I don't. It's just fun to plant stuff but also I may be getting some soil and other supplies for free from an ad on FB. Messaged the person who listed it if it was available when can I come get it. That was three hours ago and, sure they may be at work right now, no reply yet.
Wish I had the money and space/truck to get these, different sizes and all wood, looks like tree/bush crates from large landscaping job (had to do screenshots because I was on my phone and didn't trust trying to find it on the computer).
So there's soil, planting tray, a trowel, the stacking tri-shape planters, small flower box planters.. and round pots as well with seed starter mix apparently. Hoping to hear word back soon on those because it's all usable for sure.
Again, if I had more reliable extra income I would invest in getting a community garden plot in the neighborhood. There's one not far from here but haven't checked to see how much and whether they have any open spaces. Usually it's like $25/month or something and sometimes they require you to attend monthly or seasonal meetings with the rest of the gardeners. Depends on the organization. That was the case in another community garden in another part of town.
So the dreaming and searching goes on for finding a way of indulging in my gardening hobby to be a bit more productive and engaging. Without breaking any rules of our complex.
