Well apparently it rained yesterday

We encountered light drizzle by the time we took the trolley from our area to downtown. When we got out of the theater around 9 it was a very heavy drizzle. Downtown is a lot closer to the coast than we are. But apparently it did rain a bit judging from the spots on my car and the soil in the garden.

Hard to say how much it rained but that dark line of soil at the back of the dug up bed says enough that it dripped off the roof. I scratched the surface of the raised bed and, considering  I watered well yesterday, it definitely does not need any water for a while with this cloud cover.

The garlic may actually be ready to harvest at the end of the year. I'm getting a lot of good information and tips from some garden groups I joined on FB and discovered the red onion seeds I have are fine for planting but in the fall.  Hopefully I'll have the other bed ready by that time and the tomatoes will be done.

Not exactly sure if that's a radish or weed seed coming up. Have to wait for it to get a bit bigger. Luckily the soil is loose enough it's easy to pull out. The lettuce seedlings are going to be thinned as I see fit. The other lettuce.... is growing like mad!

Almost time for another clipping for salad. I can only imagine having enough plants this size for using every day. Again, not sure what else to plant there for the summer.

If there is no invasion from rodents, possibility is strawberries maybe? They can tolerate a little shade. Something more to ruminate on for sure. Will have plenty of lettuce in the other bed soon enough. Really want to see if I can grow some strawberries.
