Weather is the same as yesterday, so not horrible, still very mild and waiting for the supposed hot weather next week. I decided to trim some of the lower leaves off of the tomatoes because they were touching the ground and it somehow seemed like they didn't need to be.
Some adjustments to the picture on the left as it was entirely more dark than it actually was so it now matches the other picture and the actual brightness of the light.
It's
very encouraging seeing the plants looking so healthy and hearty. There
is some snail damage, possibly worms but that leaf touching the ground
is what spurred me to trim up the bottoms of all the plants.
Welp,
that top flower didn't make it but not surprised and not disheartened
about it. There's plenty more in other places. Hard to see them under
the other foliage on that plant.
So
yes, there are plenty more flowers to go through and it is still early
in the season as far as the weather is concerned. This time last year
there was no June gloom, we had hot weather off and on starting this
month and running through to October. So the tomatoes are on track for
producing next month for sure and into august.
The
south bed tomatoes are also looking spectacular with foliage and
several flowers. I took a picture of the base of the front tomatoes in
the bed. Relatively dense foliage that I removed a good portion of with
the nipping.
With
their 'skirts' removed it's rather open underneath the tomatoes. This
is a good thing actually as it increases air flow and reduces
possibility of diseases and insects/mollusks.
Not a lot of branches but when they are large and cover area it only takes one or two to make more room under them.
Stupid
jade plant in the way but there is a branch that I think I took off the
tomato that's sticking out and another picture of how many more leaves I
nipped off.
Top
view of the south tomatoes completely filling that small bed. There are
four plants in there though so that's a lot of leaves covering the
area.
No
other pictures than that. Today is the last day of picking up the
grandboys from school for me as tomorrow is their last day. Will have to
find other flowers to take pictures of and places to walk.
