Perfect weather for the air show that's in town. That's far enough away that we'll hear it mostly but not see any planes overhead. Clear and slightly breezy, moderately warm so also great for sprouting seeds and plants growing. Wearing long pants today but the temps warrant shorts, will be washing those tonight so I can wear them the next few days for the continuing warm trend.
Another feather from the parrots in the lawn. This one has all the colors all the way to purple at the tip. That is actual feather color not iridescence. I keep them tucked in the rim of my garden basket for decoration. The garden this morning bathed in sunlight, pepper and strawberries getting plenty of sun and the cucumber was protected by the plastic bag to a point.
It's a loonng one. Bigger than any I've had from the store. Once I brought it upstairs I saw a little bit of chewing near the stem but overall it was unmarked. I checked the other small started cucumbers and am still kind of on the fence about keeping that plant for those or yanking it. I honestly don't need anymore cucumbers, still have two from the garden and another two that were gifted from a friend. I need to have more salads and maybe fix the cold pickled cucumber and onion from my childhood.
Cilantro is sprouting like crazy, I've already thinned out several dozen and there's still more than enough coming up. Glad to know that my harvested seeds are just as viable as from a package. Now if I could only get a grinder to make coriander powder for cooking.
There are enough buds on the zinnias so I cut the flowers to give the other buds more energy. The potato back there is doing just fine as well. Nothing from the other potatoes which I'm not expecting any time soon because they were just sprouting and not very far along so it'll be a while before they poke out of the ground.
That's all the photos I have for today. It's great to be able to have the door and windows open all day and enjoy the weather for a change. I hate being enclosed in a box with air conditioning but it's a necessity. We make do with what we have.
Getting that hand twitchy eagerness to plant more things.
