Still in a holding pattern but strawberry leaves!

Warmer today, not a cloud in the sky but the wind is still kicking up. A warmer wind not a cool breeze but air movement nonetheless. Going to be this way for another week and warmer to boot. We just closed up at 2pm because it's 84 outside and when the sun angles onto the front of the apartment it's going to jack the ambient up another ten degrees.

Two lizards skittered from Dolores' area to the logs as I got to the garden, you just take care of all those bugs you guys, wish you would see all the pill bugs in my raised bed. Maybe next time I find some I'll toss them in the log pile instead of the jade and the compost.

Dolores caught me yesterday and said she was going to buy a new hose for the garden I thanked her profusely and told her I wouldn't have the money this month but was going to try and get a mend kit. She asked how long the hose was and told her 50'. She was going to try and get it today or Friday. Bless her heart, need to do something to thank her. Other than giving her the other bed which I've already planted onions in, oops.

Little green bug, it's not an aphid, it moves faster and has wings. I've seen them before but not sure what it is. They're only found on the tomatoes because I saw them on mine as well. Phone doesn't have good focus or pixel rate to get a good close up unfortunately.  And then there's this industrious one starting to string up her web on the pumpkin/tomatoes in Dolores' bed. I checked this morning and no sign of any web was there other than a few support lines. It could be a male because they don't make a large web like females but on the other hand that is quite a large spider which indicates a female.

All four strawberries are showing leaf growth, yay! I gave them all a dose of fertilizer and watered with the watering can enough to wet the fertilizer and surface of the soil.  Wit this second heat wave they're staying shaded but warm right now.

Here's hoping they grow roots and sufficient system for planting out next year. I planned for them to go in the window box but only if I have the potting soil to do it.

Nothing much in the cucumbers right now, everyone is growing and didn't see any further damage from the bugs. I buried that half tomato a bit away from the plants so hopefully that will keep them busy for a while.

Well now I have to go through all my posts and remember what I was going to plant where. I know lettuce and cilantro was going in the south bed, radish and carrots and maybe more cilantro in the west bed and sweet peas, and what in the raised bed? Trying to think of any herbs or other veggies that would go in there.

There's also potatoes that need to be put out but we just dumped all but a few of the potatoes as some of them were starting to rot. I made sure to save out at least two, one of them is a red. Oh yeah the big onions. Those will have to go on the East side of the raised bed to give them time. But what about using the crate for onions instead? Or both? Apparently you can grow potatoes and onions together along with radishes. Interesting.

With all the pill bugs in the raised bed I'm reluctant to plant any root crops there right now. Need to figure that out first and keep the root veggies either in the ground or in the crate.

I'll try and remember everything I think of, but not likely.

Well, calamity struck.

I never got out to the garden yesterday because I figured it wasn't worth it. I should have watered because it's been dry of course...
