So it looks like I'm posting every other day for now. It got up to 94 yesterday and only slightly lower today. It does cool down nicely in the evening, just wish there was more wind to completely cool off our apartment. I didn't sleep well so am in a kind of cranky mood today.
The zinnias are still thriving at least. Still signs of cutworm damage on them but hard to look for them bending over.
I discovered I have more of the green onion seeds than I thought so I planted a row along the warmer side of the bed. Then FINALLY a sprout is coming up for the lettuce. Just one. Good lord they took forever and I think I'm going to have to screen that soil and just spread seed all over it. They came up fine in the ground a year ago so not sure what's going on.
Still no movement from the radishes, carrots or peas. Honestly, it's enough in my current mood to cry. Peas are supposed to come up quickly, same with radishes. 'Fastest growing vegetable' well apparently not these. I will have to go look for more seeds because I don't think these are good growers. I did get them about two years ago and I recall they didn't do well the first time either. Easter were the only ones that came up.
While I was watering last night I noticed movement and realized a bee was looking for water along the trellis where it was wet, it wandered around, I tried to not spray it because that would be bad. I hope she got enough water and found her hive or a flower before it got too dark. If she had been moving slower I would have taken her to the zinnias but it was clear she was looking for water.
The other visitor was a tiny lizard. Couldn't have been any longer than my thumb. Yay! It skittered ahead of me and the best I could do is get a bad still photo of it. Glad to see that population is thriving in the garden and why I am hesitant to move the big log pile. I've also been watering the logs a bit get water to trickle down for them because everything needs water. This little guy hopped over the hose and skittered up into the electrical closet
So other than getting more seeds and waiting for things to cool down, not much else to do in the garden at this point. We'll be closing up very soon as it is now 85 outside and soon to be 91 in just a few hours.
Sigh. Will I miss this warm weather in the 'depth' of winter (such as it is). Maybe... maybe not.
