Weather change, again.

It is clear, decidedly warm and breezy. The ring eclipse was this morning not yesterday and I could tell by the odd light outside around 9 am that something was off. We only got a partial view but it was enough to make it look like the sun light was coming through a smoke haze. I was not going to toss on my shorts and run outside because that would be silly. I did notice the shadow of one of the trees showed the partial crescent of the eclipse so I'm good. It got into the mid 80's by the time we got home from shopping today around 2 so AC is on despite the wonderful wind outside.

Flowers first, the Tiffany is in full bloom and smelling amazing as usual. Wonderful shot of it from this morning after the eclipse.

I decided last night to plant the green onion cuttings I had on the counter. They were somewhat fragile as two of them broke in half as I moved them around. It's only about a dozen so there's still plenty of room for more at the front side. I am giving up on the peas entirely, they should have come up by now and I suspect they may have rotted. Will dump one of them out tonight and see what's going on and hope to get to the library to get more.

I took the two onions that broke  and put them in a cup sunk into the soil at the end of that row in case they wanted to munch on something. Then, remembering they like to be under cover I put the large leaf on top. I saw a few of them crawling around and put them in the bottom where some dirt fell in, you know to make them feel all safe.

There were a few more in there than last night crawling around as I uncovered the cup, going to take a splash of biodegradable soap and put it in there tonight. Unfortunately, that is one of the planter cups that has holes in the bottom so it won't hold water or the suggestion of beer. Not that I don't have another cup that doesn't have holes in it, so I'll likely take some bread and a splash of vinegar in a new cup for tonight.

I put all the potted plants in the bed for some sun. I was only going to put the pepper and rose then looked at the rest of them and thought, what the heck. The oregano is recovering well, the leaves are feeling more thick and resistant rather than limp and soft. Good sign of recovering there. The rose is slowly trying to put out more leaves, going to be a while as the roots on that one likely got more damaged. So the only thing I left in the shade was the lettuce.

Those certainly took their time coming up and not all of them are up by a long shot. Need to get some actual seedling mix for planting seeds or a sifter to get the larger particles out of the potting soil.

As the temps continue to lower it will get better for seeds to sprout. I have a good handful of small potatoes not just from that one pathetic portion but others from another small bag.

Technically yes, they do have to have sprouts in order to grow well, so those two that I put in the ground a while back, may never sprout this year. Might have to dig those up. The instructions I read for forcing them is putting them on damp soil in indirect light.

Hmmmmm:

(old picture I know) Either this bed or the window box will do nicely I think. Just stir up the soil, keep it moist and should have potato sprouts soon. Brilliant!

I haven't taken a picture of my new potting rack because I keep forgetting and the one I did take I deleted because I didn't think I needed the picture anymore. Doh!

Breeze is blowing th rough the trees saying 'it's faaallllll'.
