It's breezy and a very comfortable 75 at 3pm. It's wonderful! It'll warm up over the weekend by about ten degrees but cool down again so weather is on a downhill trend. I put all the containers out in the sun today because the air isn't hot but the sun will hopefully kick germination a bit. We might get some rain in a week, app says Wed/Thurs but will see if that changes.
Nothing pestered the west bed as I left the cover off because the potato is getting too tall for it. The cilantro is also speeding up a bit and I'm anxious to get some plants or seeds in there. The zinnias... just won't stop. There were at least two butterflies flitting around, but usually behind my back because as soon as I turned around they were flitting away. A Fritillary and one of the smaller ones at least, I got that much of a glimpse of wings. 'Fall color' in the raised bed in the form of a few leaves that had blown in from the liquidambar tree. It's breezy enough that there's an almost constant littering of leaves drifting down now.
Raised bed after a light watering and different angle. I also could swear there were more logs right there. At least one or two thinner ones. I don't remember there being that much bare dirt even a week ago. Hmm.
I don't think those little potatoes are ever going to sprout. I've kept them in the shade, put them in the sun and all they are doing is changing color and getting soft. I'm better off getting some seed potatoes that are guaranteed to grow. I had never encountered potatoes that did not sprout in my cupboard so this is different. I had heard that some potatoes are sprayed with a 'growth inhibitor' for a longer shelf life. And Dolores has an eggplant! It's about three or four inches long now, so very happy for her that the plant is producing even in the shade.
Not much else in pictures, I've had this week off due to the grandboys being sick all week. Hope to have some pictures of trees and stuff on my walk next week. Barring rain and inclement weather of course.
You wait for the heat to not be so intense, then hope for the rain to not be so hard or cold. It's all about that middle comfort range. for plants and people.
