Now it's clear skies and breezy, so if you're in the shade, it's cold, go in the sun and it's 80 degrees. Sigh. The weather is good enough though I put the potted plants in the sun and gave them a little water. Since the humidity is up and temps are down, they aren't drying out as fast.
Another pair of small butterflies visiting the zinnias and resting on the potato. They may be the same species just different genders. Hard to see the one on the zinnia because it's the same color as the dirt behind it. I tried.
I believe two cilantro seeds have sprouted in the west bed. They've been watered and the soil shifted around a lot so not surprising they're coming up where I didn't plant them. The south bed is still very, very wet. Absolutely no sun hits it this time of year and it is solid soil, was tempted to put some Romaine seeds in there but I just don't feel comfortable with that soil being so compacted. I checked the peas in their pellets and they weren't completely covered with peat moss so I kind of squished them and loosened the soil a bit to cover them. I briefly considered just planting the pellets in front of the trellis but would have to use cups to protect them once they came up.
Everybody in the sun and examining the rose. Two plants have sprouts coming from below which is okay. I was concerned as there were a few leaves that looked like they had been eaten. I couldn't find any worms on the stems though and the one plant on the right was almost completely naked and the leaves looked wilted. Hmmph. So I watered it (being in all peat moss) but overall they're looking good.
It's hard being a Libra gardener with impatience issues:
I thumbed through my seeds and moved the packet of Romain to the bag with the cool season seeds. Again was tempted to just chaos seed but mentally slapped myself because I have cauliflower and sweet peas coming soon as well as mixed lettuce. Should have moved the cauliflower pot to the sun.... the peat pellets dry out too fast so that's why those are staying in the shade still. I then thought that they may need more warmth to trigger them to sprout faster....decisions decisions.
Oh and no forlorn and sad looking plants this week at the patio, just cut flowers and greens. There was chamomile which I immediately thought 'this is a useful plant!' and then put them down as I honestly wouldn't know what to do with just chamomile. There was a bundle of pink roses but I have no vase or jar to put them in and no where to put them.
So many things but can't do much.
