So, senility is setting in and seeds planted

So, the weather is good, warm and breezy, nary a cloud in the sky but a bit hazy around the horizon. Going to be warm this weekend and cool off next week so good time to be planting seeds right?

Only yesterday I was wondering about where the two logs went to that were at the end of the big pile on the wall?

I'm just going to leave this here for you to figure out and then laugh and commiserate with me. Yeah, I realized when I picked them up not needing them anymore that....that's where they had gone.

The butterflies sure are loving those flowers! Just have to remember to plant them and the Echinacea next spring for pollination partners in the summer. I also heard the sings of a hummingbird but when I turned, all I saw was the shadow before he flitted off to the trees. Sorry little one, no hummer food over here right now. It may have been attracted by the bright orange red of the zinnias but those really are more butterfly flowers as the nectar part is too small for a hummer tongue.

So the soil looks bone dry until you move one of the containers out of the way and it is just fine underneath. I moved the peat pellets, onions, pepper and cauliflower container to the shade as it is going to be rather warm today. The potato is doing very nicely still and as I looked at the other end I decided I would stir up the soil (being mindful of the cilantro that's coming up there) and loosen things. I did bring my seed bag with me and decided, what the heck, I'll just toss some Romaine seeds in.

Well in digging around, lo and behold, a tiny potato sproutling was found. I'll be dipped, well that got moved to the raised bed between the other two. Little tiny fella but it's already sprouted so here's hoping.

I planted probably a dozen or so seeds sprinkled around then very lightly covered with the softest and least chunky soil I could find right there and then misted them well. Grow my little beauties!

Sadly I blundered on the orchid. I put water in the bottom of the pot and forgot to dump it out. Both of the new growth stems are rotting. It really needs to be taken out of that pot but I have nothing for it to sit on that's water proof and wouldn't create an issue where I have it. Sigh.... oh well, here's hoping the mother bulb has enough energy to put out more growth but doubtful.

This is a Ficus benjamina, it is a tough as nails yet has diva like tendencies. It is yellowing like a deciduous tree. This is part of it's diva tendency to suddenly drop or yellow leaves if the temperature is not to its liking.  Night time temps have been dipping into the mid to low 40's at night and that is like a splash of cold water in the face. It'll survive.

And so it goes in cycles, the circle from seeds and plants to growth and fruit to death and compost.
