No rain in the forecast just partly cloudy but the high puffy kind and wispy upper clouds after a storm. Not much rain fell anywhere but it at least cleaned the air between that and the wind that came through.
Difference between North East and South East skies and now it is mostly like the first picture. Love it!
I cleared away some of the leaves in the beds that were exposed because there are seedlings coming up at least in the west bed.
There might be some Romaine coming up in the west bed and since I haven't planted anything in the raised bed other than the potatoes, not much happening there. I did check the lettuce tray and pellets.
Just had to wait for the right weather for them to come up! This is all mixed lettuce so will see who survives the cut. The cauliflower seedlings I thinned out a bit, there were 11 total and thinned them down to 6.
I think I'm going to start the sweet peas again, they should have been up already, same thing with the onions. They may have all rotted.
I moved them into the sun (such as it is today) in hopes that the sunshine will dry them out a bit and spur them into popping up. Not holding my breath on that.
In moving some of the leaves out of the west bed, look what I discovered! The snails are still out and about and hope it didn't mow down any possible lettuce that was coming up. Wondering if that and its cousins are responsible for lack of cilantro coming up in that end? I did see a tiny green pair of leaves in the area I planted the Romaine so hopefully removing the leaves will curb any snails from hiding out.
Other than that, the rain improved my mood incredibly but all I wanted to do yesterday was have a front porch to sit with a blanket, my knitting and some music to watch and listen to the rain fall. Even if rain happened all the time I'd still love it every day after living in a desert environment for half my life.
Sure there's trees outside my window and a hill but the neighbors ugly backyard is in the foreground with their umbrellas and shade cloth to supposedly block our view in their yard. Right.
Yeah... soft cushions, flowers from my garden and listening to the rain (porch would need to be deeper or have really good rain gutters).
