Yes it rained! Thunder, lightning and wind! It was wonderful! I actually have three shirt layers on because we have the window open for the fresh air. Hardly any breeze right now so must be the eye of the storm. Yay for weather!
Short video of how much the wind was tossing those branches as well as a good rumble of thunder. Apologies for the plastic bottle being crunched in the background. Definitely fall with all the leaves being tossed around everywhere, branches tossing in the wind!
Had to brighten the first photo as it was somehow way too dark. When I saw how hard the wind was blowing this morning I knew there would be leaves everywhere. Can see how there's a bottleneck where the leaves are piled up near the lemon bush. It's wunnderful as my sweetie says who grew up in NY and loves rain storms.
The darkened wet soil makes a much better background for seedlings, there's about eight cauliflower coming up, which I will only need two or three unless I really want to only grow cauliflower this winter. Then when when I picked up that container to inspect, I saw the potato had finally broken the surface behind the cauliflower pot. Yay! The promise of fall and winter plants is finally filling out...except I didn't check the other trays or pots. Didn't see anything just glancing at them so will do a closer inspection tomorrow.
Someone say Autumn leaves from a storm? I suspect if I had kept the cage cover on it the leaves would be easier to remove but this is okay. Leaves are actually great, in fact, for when the sun comes back out it'll keep the moisture in the soil longer. Just have to make sure the seedlings have room to grow and not get suffocated. Cilantro is big enough they're doing fine, just waiting for the lettuces, sweet peas and onions to get going. Which reminds me to toss more green onion seeds out in that bed as well. With the potato and the chives at one end, and romaine at the other I think plopping a cauliflower at the far end is a good idea. Green onion seeds at the front edge and maybe carrots and try the radishes again.I suspect I have been planting the radishes at the wrong time of year so hoping to have a better run with them over the winter.
Good thing about the rain, it nourishes the soil and the soul.
