I never got around to posting yesterday as I only had about three pictures. So i looked at the weather and it said it wouldn't likely rain until the evening. Good enough. Well what did I wake up to? Rain. Good solid rain too. We had errands to run today as well so triple layer clothing and then went down to the garden to clip some cilantro real quick. In the rain. Yeah... gardeners are silly like that.
Jade in full bloom at the entrance to the garden from yesterday. It was only partly cloudy but when I took Rocky out for a walk a few gusts of wind came up and my brain immediately said, 'ah rain is coming for sure.' The other picture is from this morning. I was making salsa and would have done it yesterday but didn't remember I needed cilantro until 10 pm. So what's a girl to do? Run down to the garden with phone and kitchen scissors for four or five stems of cilantro.
I also got to see where the roofline drip point was and it turned out to be a little on the crate and a little on the bed between the potatoes. Also yesterday during my walk, I saw that the other plumeria stem that had been in the ground there was gone. All that was left is a hole. It was fine a few days ago but it's obvious someone just pulled it out and there wasn't any roots growing yet. Because it's winter!
Kind of hard to see but definitely 'worm sign' in the west bed. This is a good thing though as it means there is organic matter for them to eat and the soil is healthy.
We drove by a bank of soil on an off ramp and there were dozens of gopher mounds. I had a small clench of concern and thought of my garden and the destruction they caused two years ago. Then remembered how well I prepped my beds last year and relaxed a little. Doesn't mean they won't be in there, just means they won't be eating my plants this year. Hopefully no one else's either.
Serious wind just now, likely more rain on the way but that's fine, I have no plans on going out anymore today. Blew a lot of yellow leaves off the trees reminded me of the Ginkgo trees on a street I lived near in high school. All the leaves would turn yellow within a few weeks, then seemingly in a day they all dropped. Piles of yellow leaves up and down the street, it was fun to walk through and kick them everywhere.
I think I'll be rotating posting between this, my personal blog and now my knitting blog maybe three times a week or every other day. There's not much to cover in any of those three topics to post every day right now. I'll be covering my culinary concoctions on my personal blog as well so that covers my fourth interest.
New year, new routine, hopefully new opportunities as well.
