Yesterday was clear from dawn to dusk and into the evening. This morning, woke to overcast and cooler temperatures. Currently the only 'pants' I have are either well worn sweatpants of the very comfy grey kind, suitable only for home or emergency runs in the middle of the night, and my summer shorts. So it's shorts now until I can get more money in the budget for clothing. As long as it's in the 70's during the day, I'll be okay.
No sky pictures today, my brain is scattered and pretty much the same color as yesterday so not really going to worry about it. The tippy top of the sweet peas are too far away for me to reach given my limited access to the fence. I am going to look for DWARF sweet peas for next time, these are absolutely crazy! Wouldn't be so bad if they were in the ground but the extra almost two feet up, and four feet in front I can't reach them. More than enough though to cut for sending off to my daughter for the weekend. Even have a small plastic cup to keep them in but due to small boys being the transfer will likely wrap them in a wet paper towel and stuff them in the cup.
I didn't mention that yesterday I went to water and discovered the hose nozzle was missing. I surmised that Dolores went out to replace the nozzle on the hose and as I was walking Rocky yesterday after I watered she was coming back from the store with the replacement. She said that it was so 'corroded' it was leaking. I know what she was talking about and it was actually calcium build up blocking everything and making the handle leak. The new one works much better of course, not my a fan of the pistol type but it has all the different settings so it's good enough. The shower setting works like it should and I completely watered everything including Layla's beds as she's coming back this weekend I believe.
I do believe the oregano is responding to being in the new soil. Looks like some new growth at the base, so here's hoping it really does grow well because I'm almost out of oregano in the jar. You can see the light difference between the two pictures as a cloud passed over on the other photo. The difference in the leaves between the verified peppers and the ones in the long one are obvious. Those are all tomatillos coming up, there *might* be a pepper coming up near the three largest plants since it has pointier initial leaves. Still nothing in the other long container, which are the Fish Peppers and may need a lot more time and heat to start growing. Website says 6-8 weeks to germinate and another says 10-21 days, holy cats! Need to get a marker and draw a fish on the plastic so I can remember what they are. If those don't work out I'll remember that for next year to start them indoors with the other peppers and tomatoes if possible.
I don't want to put the strawberry in the ground with the pill bug and slug issues I have, so that's going to stay in that pot for a while but they are adaptable thankfully. I'll figure out how to get a larger pot to put it in eventually. Same with the roses, those can happily go in a ten to twelve inch pot for at least a year but it is so far behind on growth right now, it's almost stunted compared to established roses in the ground that are bursting with flowers.
Making do with what I've got and that will have to do.
