Supposed to be ten degrees cooler today at the height of the day, still not good but won't have to close things up I hope. The change in temperature and barometer is messing with my sinuses again. Yeesh!
I am watering every day and still getting cracking on the largest tomato, has to be the hot sun on it cooking the fruit. You can see the lettuce seedlings better today and I decided to leave the shade cloth off. Maybe I should shade the tomatoes?
You might be able to notice the seeds that have fallen on the cloth. Those are the seeds from the sycamore balls falling apart. They typically don't grow but still annoying as they're allll over the place. You can also see how dry everything gets so quickly. By the time it was cool enough to open things up yesterday it was dark so I didn't get out and water in the evening.
The peas are climbing well and I am definitely going to need something taller as they are supposed to get 5-6 feet tall. The cilantro is starting to bolt as well, I nipped off the tops on two but left the third when I realized that I wanted to save the seeds.
If I had known lettuce was this easy to sprout I would have bought seeds two months ago! Going to be thinning them out over the next few days. I also inspected the marigolds coming up and realized there were a lot of weedlings coming up as well and will be making sure to keep those nipped out as well.
I got a better picture of the pink rose that's blooming and still don't know which one it is. The iris bloomed as well! It's a deep burgundy with yellow markings on the throat. Rocky didn't want to go that direction so couldn't get a better picture.
There are three more buds on that stalk so I have other opportunities for closer pictures. I had to put a stick next to the taller pea plant in the north bed as it was laying over. Just a few more days and will be able to get supplies for a proper climbing fence for them.
Off to the store for a few groceries then home for the day!
