More harvest and cloudy day

It drizzled a good bit overnight and into the morning. Heard water drip dripping but not gushing on the gutters. It cleared somewhat briefly mid afternoon and it's back to almost full cloud cover now at almost 6pm.

The seedlings are still doing well and it seems the peppers are coming up sooner than the beans. Beans have been known to sprout quickly but I haven't had that experience with them. Wondering if the window is staying too cold for them but today they got a good warm blast of sun for a few hours.

The tomatoes are starting to grow together through the pellets. Need to get them into their own pots really soon.  Not sure if I want to go with this method again but it's the easiest and least costly method I can do at this point.

I swear it looks like I'm digging a grave in reverse. It's going to have to stay that way until I can get some chicken wire to go on the bottom and sides. The raised bed is still doing fabulous, forgot to see how the two lone carrots are doing but the soil seems to still be dark from the stirring up I did and the drizzle we had.

One thing for sure, the roots are going everywhere in that soil. They aren't tough at all but lots of fine little hair roots everywhere. I encountered it when I dug for that tomato I put in and suspect that it's going to need a lot of fertilizer and more soil when things switch over to summer crops.

I pulled a goodly handful of cilantro again to straighten the line a bit. I sowed them the other direction and rather close so after pulling I have to push the soil back down, which is where I also discover so many of the fine roots are holding the soil together. This also means that I need to start thinking about mulching for the summer.

Seriously, anyone need some cilantro? That is as big as any bunch (and bigger I can tell you) than any I can find in the store. Need to figure out how to dehydrate them for storage and use later. Freezing and putting them in the fridge as I've been doing works well also but they also say putting it in a jar of water and it'll last a few weeks. I'll consider some of the options and offer them up to trade in one of the garden groups.

With the weather shifting to cold again, bees have not been out as much but there's still a lot of blooms for them. The Jade is pretty much done though, which means if I want to draw pollinators into the garden I need to plant some ornamental flowers for them. All I have is zinnias and frankly, not top of the list for bees and only slightly attractive for butterflies. Might have to start some of those for the summer.

Anywho... that's pretty much it for today.
