We have rain and little wind so far

It is what I call 'Seattle Summer' weather. Temps in the mid to high 70's and a steady rain. Supposed to get heavier rain later and the wind should be picking up. I'm just glad for the break from the dry hot situation. Still running the fans because humidity is horrific and the air isn't moving fast enough yet.

I was messaged this morning by my brother who lives in No. CA and another former coworker who's in New Mexico asking how I'm doing. I am still just shaking my head and smiling at all the concern about the situation.

It's a summer storm, wind is picking up but other than that, for me, just a rainy summer day. Not planning on going out anywhere for sure but it's not like rivers in the street. I'd go drive on the freeway just to get the car cleaner.

Got out last night to do some pollinating with a brush. I picked a brush with dark, soft bristles and there's the pollen on the tip of it, the target flower is right behind it oddly enough. It was still no rain last night so easy to pollinate. This morning not so much.
Despite the flowers being mostly covered by leaves they still got wet so that means it was harder to see whether I got pollen or not as the brush got wet.

As I said, a slow steady light rain so far but even as I'm typing it looks like things are picking up a bit both in rain and wind.

That is the same flower I pollinated yesterday and the flower is starting to fade, which is a good sign. You can see how many flowers there are but most are males. I found one female I hadn't pollinated and did my best with it. Plenty more coming up for sure.

The fragrance coming through the window is mostly lemon scented from the eucalyptus tree otherwise it would just be damp asphalt and cement. I don't mind that at all and if I ever move somewhere that doesn't have that particular tree I'll likely try and plant lemon balm or a lemon scented geranium near a window.

Would I like this  as much if it happened almost every day? Maybe not but it's still a far cry better than hot, dry oppressive heat for weeks on end. I grew up in foothills and near coastal redwood mountains. Never going to get me to move anywhere there is less rain. I am still hopefulf or a big break miraculously to happen where I could make our dreams come true.

Need a star to wish on I think.
