Clouds all gone, clear skies again

Beautiful day really. Shouldn't even get up to 80 today but it will feel warmer when you're standing in the blazing sun for sure. Ambient temperature can be vastly different and a day like this the shade will be heavenly. For the most part temps in the next two weeks will stay in the high 70's, yay!

Nothing new in the garden except some new mysterious divots.

You can see the divots from this angle, it does look like a cat may have jumped in there but no piles or scrapes thankfully. There is also a big difference between the shaded side and the sunnier side. It'll all be the same color by the end of the day with the way the sun is angling though.

That's what  I did last night, got more sticks to protect the bed and it worked apparently. They are walking over the sticks which is good because that prevents them from doing anything else. But that sure has to be a heavy cat to make footprints that deep. I did add a few scoops of the potting mix into that south bed so it was extra soft and fluffy.

I also pulled off some pieces of bark for the other bed and gee, what a surprise...termites. I dumped them into the log pile and hope that the lizards pick them off.

Cucumber will be ready soon and little rassafrackin bugs at the flowers! Little turds and everything. They are making the trek up the vine and back in one night. Still plenty more coming on though. Wonder if I could put down a piece of plastic on the soil and lay the vine on it instead of the bucket? If those three babies continue that vine is going to get heavy and it is a precarious situation as it is.

Also, the cilantro is definitely getting going. As soon as that gets big enough I'll sprinkle some more seed along the back of that bed. I really should be starting seeds and planting but I don't have the soil/compost yet for the raised bed. Going to be a late start to the planting again.

Is it the end of the world? Is it a disaster I'll never recover from? No but when you make it your hobby to do something creative or whatever, you'd like to be better than mediocre about it. I did okay with my jewelry, some great designs but, as always, budget determines quality. Same with gardening.

I will make do with what I have because that's all I've got.

Well, calamity struck.

I never got out to the garden yesterday because I figured it wasn't worth it. I should have watered because it's been dry of course...
