Hot, no wind and other stuff.

We are closed up already at noon. Before that actually because it was going to be 91 at noon so I closed everything up and started the ac around 10:30. So yeah. Next few days are going to be gruesome and brutal. Sporadic breeze but that wouldn't do us any good since it's so hot.

First up, flowers! An absolutely perfect panicle of Crepe Myrtle on my walk. The fluffy pink is actually petals, the second picture shows the flowers are actually quite large going by the spread of the petals themselves. But it's almost like an ostrich feather fan in structure.

And someones plumeria with a poinsettia coming up at the other corner of the house. I'm parking in a different spot this year so there's more interesting things going on. Or maybe it's the time of year.

And in my garden, the zinnia last night and this morning. More red than orange but look at all the other branches coming off it! Same with the other one as well. Better late than never I suppose. Oh yes and I watered last night and look how dry the surface is just in a matter of about three or four hours in the sun.

The sprinklers were going and the one closest is capped but leaking and the farthest one is spraying the lemon bush, which is okay and the third one was barely leaking. The guy that was turning off that station asked if he should cap off the sprinklers over there and I told him the situation and it's perfectly fine right now. I guess he saw me high stepping over the spray coming and going.

Looks like Dolores trimmed off all the leaves that had mildew on them. Uh, that's not going to be good now. The rest of the plant is fine but that one section was in shade all the time and that's what happens this time of year.
And the sacrificial fruit for the bugs results. They are indeed munching down on them during the  night and I have to remember to water during the day not in the evening because it didn't prevent them from getting to another cucumber.

That isn't dirt on the chewed area, that's pill bug poop. Bastidges. It was even on a piece of bark. I might have to rig something up like plastic supports or something. I think next year I might have to figure out how to rig up a trellis for another one.

Not a before and after just comparing. I don't think that one on the left is going to survive and the one that has survived I've been hanging over the edge of the bed. It's almost picking size I think, good weight and color with fewer ridges.

Another one that's doing good and two more babies coming up. Hope those flowers open this time.

More curved than straight one lately but Mr. straight out there is doing well. I keep that one out of the dirt as much as possible because it'll be ready very soon also.

The strawberries are still growing but one I think may be failing (not pictured). It looks like the leaves browned overnight but these three are still doing okay.

These are the tomatoes just from the last week, there are about half that many in the fridge. The little round ones are from the west bush with the four larger and normal shaped ones from the trellis bush. Big difference, and you'd think they were different varieties but they all came from the same package of seeds. Location, location, location.

Oh and I sprinkled more cilantro seeds in the west bed and the east side of the raised bed. Will see what happens.

Other than that, time for shuttle duty and braving the heat outside.
