It is still warm and dry, wind is coming up thankfully which means hopefully cooler weather. All the other gardeners in San Diego are also struggling with the weather. One person has sunflowers and peas growing at the same time, another is harvesting fruit and another jokingly asked for people to talk her down from planting seeds right now.
This is the pepper plant, some of the fruit have turned red so black is still ripe as Dolores has been picking them. If they were fire when black I can only imagine what they are red. Itching to start more seeds for sure but I just plucked the few lettuce seedlings that were struggling. I am going to see if I can find or make a sifter to get finer soil for seeds. Lettuce, peas, cauliflower and that's about it for things I can start in trays or pots. Everything else has to be started in place. So sifting the raised bed to a degree in areas is also needed.
I saw some window screen or shade cloth in the trash yesterday and didn't take it because it was a really full dumpster as someone's apartment was getting cleaned out. Too much to mess with and that is too fine for using as a sifter. 1/4 or 1/8 inch mesh is perfect and I've seen pre-made ones just don't have the money. Maybe..... dollar tree might have some sand toys for cheap and have a sand sifter.... or a colander for cheap. Have to go check that out.
That's all I have for now, no progress on peas or onions or weather.
