Still not much of a breeze this morning. Down to a chilly 51 when I woke up but was in the 40's overnight. Supposed to get up to 80 over the weekend which will be a pleasant change and then it will drop to cloudy and possible rain over Christmas. I'll trust that prediction when I see the wind come up.
Same shot but slightly different angle to show that the soil is still very wet from yesterday watering. Also the peas are definitely happy and growing. I may have covered up the tiny carrots that were coming up along the front, oh well, they'll survive. I did thin the group over in the corner though.
Pulled about four or five but more thinning will happen when they get bigger. I am not a big carrot eater but this is exciting to see them doing so well. Must be the right time of year to plant them as I had less success last year. That has to be done by snails or slugs as beetles are not active this time of year. Or supposed to not be.
Serious slime trail on the compost bucket so yeah, this is snail season. Trying to remember what other potted plant I had that died but couldn't remember dropping the dried rootball in there before. Oh well, dirt is good for compost too. I decided to move all the pots to the center of the bed due to having more shade than I liked. It was only around 10:30 so you can see the shade from everything is rather deep.
I think beginning of next month I will once again try and get to the library. I have no shuttle duties for two and a half weeks so more free time to do things. If I wanted seeds the library or an actual nursery are my only choice right now. I still need green onion seeds and want to try radishes again. After Christmas I can go back to HD again since that will all be gone within a week or two after Christmas. Advantages to having been in that business, knowing the ebb and flow of seasonal items. Still think it's stupid to take seeds off the floor entirely.
I saw from San Diego Seed company that they have Pepperoncini pepper seeds. Yes! I don't have any room for any more summer plants but it's good to know. This summer is for Anaheim, JalapeƱo and Tomatillo, and tomatoes of course. I am going to have a salsa garden by gosh! And cucumbers, and zucchini.....
So many things so little space.
