Still very nice weather though. Breezy and mostly clear now but was partly cloudy in the morning. Perfect weather for walking with a jacket on so will be doing that. Only going to be in the 70's all this week and clear skies so perfect temps for seed growing!
Just some progress pictures. I moved the lettuce pellets to full sun since they were leaning a lot on the porch. The lettuce tray is filling in nicely and as soon as they're big enough going to be planting chunks of them around. Everything else in the containers are holding steady.
The third potato is finally breaking the surface though nothing from the one in the far corner. Hand next to the potato plant for scale, it's getting pretty big and at least in the winter it may shade out the other two plants. I did get out last night and dump out the peas along the trellis so those are planted.
Total of eight peas as close to the trellis as I could get for maximum grab. Might need to run extra wire along the bottom like I did for the other ones. I pulled up the small log that the cilantro was growing around. That's going to be interesting for sure especially with the potato that's coming up. Will need to move that bark aside when I dig that out. ::shakes head and sighs::
Eight carrots still growing and the six cauliflower still not big enough to transplant but they're putting out a set of true leaves so that's a good sign. Will have to remember to start planting end of November and not beginning or end of October next year.
As I've remarked before, the weather patterns have shifted so our winter starts later and goes longer in the spring. So our 'winter' planting doesn't start until November now when it used to start ( or seemed like it) in October. All the 'fall weather' things that we, on the west coast, see happening back east and we're still dealing with 80 and 90 degree weather. That's why I tried my peas and other things too soon. We don't start cooling down until November and that's just air temperatures. For seeds and plants the soil has to cool down as well. Some seed directions mention the soil temperature range for optimum germination. I think with the success of those carrots I might be planting out some more of those and maybe find some radishes.
Short on time, this is all I've got for today.
