Beeeautiful clear sky day today with temps not even hitting mid 70's. It might hit 80 next week sometime but for the most part it is low 70 's and drops to the mid to low 40's at night. It's getting mighty chilly now!
Really hard to get accurate photos of the sky. The picture on the right is too dark but it originally was brilliant blue like the one on the left. But it shows wonderful clear skies of fall.
The sweet peas are finally showing! At least one of them so far. I didn't even soak them this time but I guess the combination of sun in the afternoon and cold nights did the trick. The potato chunks I dried went into the bed this morning.
Two at the back and one in the front right. Front right one has a smaller sprout so that will take some time and technically, I shouldn't have planted any in that bed due to having tomatoes there over the summer. Oh well. So these three are russets, the ones already growing are reds and I think baby yukon so a good mix of different types if they all survive. The one in the ground is going to be interesting to see how many are close to the surface and not under the chicken wire.
Lots-a-lettuce coming up. Tried to pull a few but all I end up doing is pulling the tops off. Will just have to be patient ::SIGH:: and wait for them to get bigger to separate.
So in the raised bed I have cilantro down left, carrots up right, green onions I think along the back side, snow peas along the trellis and a chive plant down right. In the west bed are cilantro, carrots, Romaine and the chive plant. Pretty good mix for winter crops this year, as long as the peas succeed. The remaining lettuces I have growing will be interspersed around in the raised bed with the cauliflower. I hopefully have room for at least two cauliflower in that bed, might squeeze in a third one and room for maybe one or two in the west bed. I have six seedlings right now. Hmmph. Can't plant much in the south bed, maybe put some lettuces in there but it'll have to wait for the spring when it starts getting more sun I think.
These are some San Pedro cactus at the far end of the complex parking lot. I was walking Rocky so difficult to get a good picture while he's on the move. Three flowers already bloomed, one is ready for tonight and then three more buds coming on so I'll have to try and get over there tomorrow and see if there's a bloom open. They bloom quickly so have to check them every day.
That's it for today and with the way the weather is going I suspect there will be seeds growing and popping a bit quicker.
