Another small harvest, weather as usual

It started out clear and sunny this morning but now there's mid level fluffy cloud cover and of course the wind has come up more than usual so likely rain in the forecast in the next 24 hours. Weather app says possible rain in a few hours so I'm glad I got to the garden when it was sunny-ish. Yes, it is increasingly windier right now (1:40pm) so rain is on the way.

Sunset last night was beautiful! I should have used a different setting but was with my other half and doing laundry. Got a picture of the clouds and the wonderful hillside in the back area earlier today. We do have some 'wild' areas in the neighborhood, that hill is private property unfortunately so can't go up there. I heard coyotes last night making all kinds of noise which meant that someone brought home food for the pack.

Two radishes were big enough to pull and two had not formed so I tossed them on the compost. That other one is almost ready as well. Then I finally decided to dig up the small potato bush and see what was there.

Judging from the skin, these are russets. It could have stayed in the ground a lot longer but you know me by now. I will wait as long as possible with the other potatoes. Those three spuds are on the front porch 'curing' because if it's going to rain they need to stay dry and that's the only place possible. I didn't wash them off but did break off that small piece of root from the tiny one.

If I had to depend on my garden for our veggies I would have to wait a lot longer.

View of the bed now that plant is gone and there's a lot fewer radishes than I thought. I'll be cutting one of those Romaine for bringing upstairs either today before it rains or hoping for a break in the weather tomorrow. The carrots and cilantro just keep going, I used some of my cilantro in the meal today, used some in the salsa I made before and might even throw some into a salad. Good thing I like Mexican food so I can use it all.

Hoping the tomato and pepper seeds sprout well and then have to wait for the west bed to finish before putting the squash seeds out. That bed still needs more compost/raised bed soil for sure, the worms are really active there right now, lots of worm castings around the carrots and radishes.

I need to locate a small rosemary plant to grow and maybe some thyme, that combined with my oregano (that is just hanging in there) I'll be able to create my own Italian herb combinations. Basil. I need basil as well. That may be what the south bed will be used for, in fact it's near perfect for herbs since it gets more shade than sun. Hmmmm...have to make a trip to the library soon.

Just some tree bark, that is all.

Well, calamity struck.

I never got out to the garden yesterday because I figured it wasn't worth it. I should have watered because it's been dry of course...
