Supplemental calcium and not much else

Weather edging close to 100 this week. Well 97 but that's still too close and way over the line for comfort. Got to the garden before noon and only had to take pictures. Last night though, remembered the calcium and the scrap bucket.

My little garden. Facing East with the hills still illuminated by the setting sun. Would rather have a tree and fewer houses that direction but I have what I have. Sunflower is full open now and hoping that butterflies and bees will find their way to it. I saw another Fritillary as I headed out this morning but they just don't sit still for long enough. The cucumbers are so much healthier than last years.
Makes me puff up with pride seeing them thriving. Unfortunately no stakes for them to climb and not sure I want to put a cage in there for them either. Technically they only get 2'-3' so given the way the tomatoes are growing, edging to the 3' size I bet. They are supposed to be planted about 15" apart, hmmm a bit too close but I'm good with it.

Life is good when all is good in the garden. The rest of my life may be falling apart but at least I have my garden. Hard to see how red the tomatoes are in the sunshine, they don't have that much glow to them. I suspect if the front tomatoes were against the trellis they'd be just as tall as the other one.

That watering can.... I'm going to have to spring for a new one. There's a split near the top and at first I wondered why there was more water going elsewhere until I noticed it. The darn thing tipped over twice when I was filling it with the calcium. So wasted a lot and now have about a third of a bottle left. I gave the north and south beds the supplement, didn't bother with the raised bed. If I could set up a second raised bed in that spot I would do it. There's something about that soil .... The zinnias may never get to a size to bloom before winter I suspect. Oh well. Will try again next year a bit earlier.

Everything just holding steady under the hot sun. I don't have anything to make shade and frankly, tomato growers don't shade their bushes right?

It's windy right now and I look out my window to a blazing hot sun drenched hill, feeling the temperature in my brain. I can see trees casting shade but it's nothing compared to what it could be further north. Under fifty foot tall fir trees shoulder to shoulder shading a dirt path.
