Things are coming up and not so dire.

Was able to extend the pay date for my electric bill until Monday as a random day so I'm good for the weekend and maybe be able to extend it again.

Anyway, weather on repeat with it clear as far as the horizon today. Not much of a breeze so we're in a 'winter' Santa Ana with no humidity to speak of making my hands feel like ancient parchment.

On to the garden.

Comparison of the branches I took off the rose today. Took that one set of branches completely down to the ground, if it comes up again then it was 'mostly dead'.

Hard to see with dry soil but there's a clump of carrot seeds coming up in the raised bed, about where I thought I planted them. I thought I got them a bit closer to the corner and spread out but oh well. It's all for the good. I did sprinkle them with water later though.

The peas are all still doing good and more cilantro coming up on the left corner and side near the potatoes. Almost put the pepper on top of them. So things are moving just at the cold weather pace.

I brought the pruners down and cut back the zinnias but not cut them out. Still buds forming on them gosh darn it. Basically cut pretty far back on the orange one and down by half with the pink one.

Yeah, basically cut them down by half and thinned them back away from the front of the bed to hopefully force growth in the other direction. They'll definitely be coming up in the spring if they last that long. That bed does get some sun this time of year but not nearly as much as in the summer so that's a reason why the zinnias are holding on.

Just tossed the zinnia cuttings in the window box for now and picked a couple of lemons from the bush. Dolores showed up and we talked about garden stuff, what was going on with hers and what I was doing with mine. Almost a half hour visiting with her in the garden so that was nice. I brought the two onions up to the rack to just chill out and not going to worry about them.

Just realized I have a container full of celery seed in my kitchen. I might just take a chance and toss some in one of those onion pots and see if they sprout. That would be fun!

Garden experimenting!
